Virulence of Escherichia coli clinical isolates in a murine sepsis model in relation to sequence type ST131 status, fluoroquinolone resistance, and virulence genotype.
Escherichia coli sequence type ST131 (O25b:H4) has emerged over the past decade as a globally disseminated, multidrug-resistant pathogen. Unlike traditional antimicrobial-resistant E. coli, ST131 derives from virulence-associated phylogenetic group B2 and exhibits extraintestinal virulence factors. This, plus preliminary evidence of virulence in experimental animals, has suggested that ST131's ...
متن کاملefl teachers job satisfaction and social capital in relation to students’ motivation
abstract this mixed method study examines whether there is any relationship among the variables of the study (job satisfaction, social capital and motivation). the researcher considered job satisfaction and social capital as independent variables; motivation is the dependent variable of the study. the researcher applied a questionnaire to assess each variable. to measure efl teachers’ job sati...
: examining l2 teachers’ corrective feedback types in relation to learners’ uptake, proficiency levels, and context types
abstract this study investigates the teachers’ correction of students’ spoken errors of linguistic forms in efl classes, aiming at (a) examining the relationship between the learners’ proficiency level and the provision of corrective feedback types, (b) exploring the extent to which teachers’ use of different corrective feedback types is related to the immediate types of context in which err...
Fluoroquinolone (FQ) utilization in symptomatic bacteriuria (SB) due to E. coli and rate of FQ-resistant E. coli in a teaching psychiatric hospital
Results Overall, 146 SB and 176 organisms were recorded in LTC wards vs. 336 and 376 in AGP wards, respectively. E. coli accounted for 55 % of urinary isolates in LTC wards vs. 68% in AGP wards (p<0.01). In AGP wards, there was no significant trend (c2) in the year-to-year utilization of FQ for treating SB (range 60%>75%) as well as in the rate of FQ-resistant E. coli, rising from 12% to 15% ov...
متن کاملMolecular Characteristics of ST1193 Clone among Phylogenetic Group B2 Non-ST131 Fluoroquinolone-Resistant Escherichia coli
Objectives: Sequence type 1193 is emerging as a new, virulent and resistant lineage among fluoroquinolone resistant Escherichia coli (FQrE. coli). In this study, we investigated the prevalence and molecular characteristics of this clone isolated from a Chinese university hospital. Methods: 73 phylogenetic group B2-FQr-non-ST131 isolates were collected from August 2014 and August 2015 at a Chine...
